This BMW R25/3 was manufactured on December 20, 1954, and delivered on July 5, 1955, to the BMW dealer Karl Gallon in Bingen, Germany. It spent most of its early life in Germany and Europe. It was brought to the states in the late ’80s by a serviceman stationed in Germany. Its first restoration to concourse condition occurred during that time. After the restoration, the little BMW received several local “Best of Show” awards. The motorcycle was then stored for 15-20 years until sold at auction to the current owner. The motorcycle has been refreshed cosmetically and mechanically. Some of the recent modifications include a complete engine rebuild, 12-volt Power Dynamo conversion, and replacement of most rubber parts. Recently, the motorcycle has received several awards including the A&S BMW Hot August Bikes vintage motorcycle show; best German motorcycle, Danville Concours d’Elegance; best motorcycle, and Huntington Beach Concours d’Elegance; best German single motorcycle. The R25/3 typically starts with a single kick and is a joy to ride. This bike would be perfect for those period media sessions depicting the mid-1950’s to the early 1960s.
